Adult Training Programs
First Response Training
One of the most important moments for a child who has been abused is when they make an initial disclosure. Your FIRST response to an initial outcry of maltreatment is the single most important step to supporting a child and making a report. FIRST Response equips you with the necessary skills to respond in a trauma-competent manner during the initial outcry. FIRST Response teaches three critical components. How to recognize signs and symptoms of abuse and maltreatment. How to listen and respond to a child's needs. How to effectively and accurately report any form of maltreatment to authorities.
Stewards of Children
Stewards of Children® is a child sexual abuse prevention program developed by the national organization Darkness to Light. This program educates adults to prevent, recognize and react appropriately to child sexual abuse. This training program is designed for parents and any adults who work with children or adolescents. Stewards of Children is the only nationally available program scientifically proven to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change child-protective behaviors. Since September 2010, Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse and Suicide has trained over 7,000 adults! Demand for this powerful training has grown exponentially!
Child and Teen Programs
Child Lures Prevention: Think First and Stay Safe
Think First & Stay Safe™ teaches students to identify and outsmart the lures that are universally used in predatory crimes against children, most often by someone the child knows. Students learn essential personal safety skills to improve self-reliance and raise self-esteem, while being consistently reassured that most people are kind, safe and committed to their well-being.
Teen Lures Prevention
Designed for grades 7-12, the goal of Teen Lures Prevention is to bring about peer to peer conversations regarding sexual assault, harassment, dating violence, bullying/cyberbullying, sexting, identity theft, online luring, suicide and human trafficking. By providing a platform to openly discuss these issues and their prevention, Teen Lures Prevention ensures the information teens are sharing about their personal safety is accurate and productive in preventing crimes against them. This generation of teenagers may very well be the first in history to have a direct impact in reducing the incidence of these issues affecting their well-being. Teens can change the world!
