At the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse and Suicide, we believe that children have a right to a safe healthy environment, free from harm, so they can reach their highest potential.
One in 10 children are sexually abused prior to their 18th birthday. 90% of the time, that abuser is someone the child knows and trusts. The correlation between abuse/adverse childhood experiences and suicide is high. Indiana has the highest rate of suicidal ideation in the country with one in five youth SERIOUSLY contemplating suicide each year.
ICPYAS provides prevention education to children, teens and adults to empower the community to recognize, report, respond and prevent abuse and suicide.
