Nominate a Chaucie’s Champion!

Each year, we honor individuals who show exceptional dedication to prevention education, creating lasting change in their communities. One outstanding advocate will receive the title of Chaucie’s Champion—a recognition of their commitment to protecting children and empowering others.

This award carries deep meaning. Chaucie Quillen, born in Carmel on September 3, 1974, was a bright student and athlete who bravely reported years of sexual abuse by her father at age 18. While her courage led to his prosecution, the legal system failed to bring full justice. The emotional toll was devastating, and on December 26, 1995, Chaucie took her own life.

Her story sparked a movement. In 2001, Chaucie’s Place was founded to prevent abuse and suicide through education. Over the years, our mission grew, reaching thousands of children across Hamilton County and beyond. In 2019, we became the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse & Suicide (ICPYAS) to expand our impact statewide.

Though our name has changed, our purpose remains the same: building a future where every child is safe, supported, and empowered—just as Chaucie deserved.

Help us honor a legacy of courage and prevention, and all those making a difference.
