Board Spotlight - Lynna Leatherman

How long have you been serving on the Board at ICPYAS and what is your role?
7 years, have served as the Secretary since 2016
How did you learn about ICPYAS and become involved?
I became aware of ICPYAS when I was a member of a Sertoma club in Noblesville. Sonia Leerkamp was the Prosecutor at the time and was involved in Chaucie's case. I remember the Sertoma group had a fundraiser to support Chaucie's Place - Pennies for Chaucie. I became involved in 2013 when a Board member recruited me.
What do you do for a living?
I am the Director of Internal Audit at Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) which is headquartered in Carmel.
What motivates you the most to serve others?
Making someone else's life better and seeing them smile.
What is your favorite quote and why?
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"..... I try to see the positive and make the best of what I have.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A wide variety of things - reading, gardening, kayaking/boating, crochet/knitting.
What about ICPYAS’s mission and work really motivates you?
Children are vulnerable and should be protected. ICPYAS teaches children how to protect themselves as well as adults how to protect them.
